Social distancing during the holidays can be tough on anyone but I am here to tell you that Christmas is NOT cancelled! We just have to be a little creative on how to celebrate Christmas while social distancing.
How to Celebrate Christmas at Home Social Distance Style
Here are a few ideas for how you can still spend the holidays with your family even though you can’t physically be together.
Phone or video call your loved ones
Now more than ever, it’s important to at least hear your loved ones voices. But video calling is best because it allows you to see your loved ones faces.
Put up the Christmas tree via FaceTime together
This year my granddaughter’s and I put up our decorations together at the same time while we listened to Christmas music on FaceTime. It was fun and put us in the holiday spirit.
Send out Christmas cards
Sending Christmas cards is something that I have always done, but not as much as I used to. But this is a great way to start the Christmas tradition back up. You can send a personal note or family picture along with your card for a personal touch.
Have a virtual baking day
Does grandma make the best cookies? Afraid that you’ll miss them this year? No worries. Have a virtual baking day where you and grandma and anyone else for that matter can call in and bake grandmas famous fudge together on a video call.
Watch Christmas movies together
Watching Christmas movies together is a fun idea too. Just keep in mind that there may be a delay in the tv programming.
Host a virtual holiday party
My family has a Christmas party every year and this year will be no exception. During our virtual Christmas party we’ll play games and have words from each family member. It’s the perfect way to connect with loved ones.
