Have you been considering online grocery shopping for your family? With all of the services that are out there, it’s a good idea to know just how to pick a grocery delivery service.
Many people have been buying their groceries online. Even I have found myself needing to place an order or two for my groceries. As a busy mom ordering groceries online is an easy way to feed my family without worrying about going to the store or worrying about exposure and staying safe during the pandemic.
I have tried several same day grocery delivery services such as Instacart, Shipt (a Target service), and Amazon Fresh. My experience has been different with each of those services.
Tips for successful online grocery shopping
Today I want to share my own personal experience with online grocery shopping and just how to get the best service possible.
Try different grocery delivery services to find the one you like
There are several different grocery delivery services to choose from. Many delivery services have specials for first time online grocery shoppers and you can take advantage of those offers to see if it works for you. I personally don’t like the idea of a yearly membership because I don’t think I will need it. But if you are a single mom or someone that needs the extra help, a membership might be the best option for you. For me paying a service fee each time works best.
You have to trust your shopper
Periodt. There really is no way to guarantee whether or not an item will be blemished or fresh but look at it this way. The shopper doesn’t want to get a complaint or a bad review because of picking out bad food so chances are shoppers will be mindful of this.
Be sure to tip your shopper
They work hard shoppers work hard and it just makes it’s just nice to leave a little something-something for them. You can also adjust your tip at the end of the shop based on how good your service was.
If something does go wrong with your order
Now, I will be honest with you. I have had some experiences that I was not happy with. For example, my grocery delivery person bought expired cookies and also bought the wrong can of pumpkin. It happens. Consider it like sending your husband to the store and he comes home with the wrong thing. Nobody can shop like you, nobody.
If and when this happens, be sure to communicate with your shopper and customer service to get a refund but do so in a timely manner so you don’t have any problems. Communication is key with grocery delivery services.
Thanks for sharing your tips. We are a family of 3 but with this upcoming winter, we are considering using a service.
I’ve mostly ordered online, then picked up my groceries. The one time I had them delivered with Instacart, I was pretty impressed. I used a free offer and then passed along my savings in the form of a tip to the shopper.
These are great tips. I’ve not done any online grocery shopping because I wasn’t sure how it would work out. I’m so particular about my products.
Thank you for sharing these tips.
I have been a shopper for years and love it. I love helping people and making sure they have what they need. But now that I have a newborn I have to take advantage of online grocery shopping especially with the colder months coming when I don’t want to leave the house. Thanks for this!
