Happy New Year! - Life Lately + My Word of the Year

Happy New Year everyone! Christmas break has been so productive for me. I've managed to get a lot of things done around the house and get some much needed rest.

I've been organizing things and getting rid of old makeup, skincare, and hair care products and it feels so good to have the extra space in my closets. So much has been going on and I want to share an update with you guys.

My Home Office Update

I'm finally working on my wall art gallery in my office space. Over the past few years I've picked up cute wall art but I haven't decided where to hang it all. After picking up this statement painting at TJ Maxx, I decided to work on displaying them together.

My Surprise

If you follow me on Instagram you may remember that I said I have a surprise for you. Well, here she is! Gbaby number three is here! December was crazy busy as I tried to prepare for Christmas and stay on call ready for baby girl's arrival, not to mention being on grandma duty helping where I can. My girls have kept me busy but I love it.

My Word of the Year

Now that we are in the new year, people have begun making their new year's resolutions, goals and vision boards. I don't resolutions, instead, I like to look back on the last year and think of what I'd like to work on in the coming year.

I hadn't planned to do a word of the year but the other day one came to mind. I had been listening to a sermon about Joy and the words really moved me. The pastor spoke of the difference between happiness and joy. Happiness can be based on people or things I.e. I'm happy because someone did this or that. But joy remains regardless of what happens in your life.

"Joy and happiness are wonderful feelings to experience but are very different. ... It comes when you make peace with who you are, why you are and how you are, whereas happiness tends to be externally triggered and is based on other people, things, places, thoughts, and events." - Psychologies.co

So this year I'm going to try to focus on living a life with more joy and not letting my circumstances steal that joy from me. Pray for me y'all!

How has the year been going so far for you?
