Doing good by volunteering in my neighborhood is something I have always personally believed in.
My volunteer work only grew from there as I worked with inner-city teen girls at local high schools and shared with them that the decisions they make now can and will shape the rest of their lives. We taught these young girls how to find and use their own personal power to do good in there high schools, communities, and world.
Doing good in the world still remains important to me and I'm glad to see when others are just as compassionate about giving back as I am. Take for instance Green Mountain Coffee Roasters®. Green Mountain Coffee Roasters is not only a delicious cup of coffee but they are doing good all around the world. As a coffee lover, I can appreciate the fact that Green Mountain Coffee Roasters is socially responsible and I feel good about purchasing from brands that are making a difference in the world.

How to Do Good in Your Hood
It is so easy to get involved in your community and here are a few examples of ways to do good in your own neighborhood.
1. Want to get to know your neighbors better? Start a neighborhood group if you don’t already have one if you do join in. You’ll get to know your neighbors as well as the needs in your community.
2. What are you passionate about? Are you tired of seeing litter in your neighborhood or something similar? Do something about it! Often the things that make us mad are often the very thing we can change.
3. Pick up your local neighborhood newspaper. They often have various events going on and you can contact them for volunteer opportunities.
4. Visit your local park or neighborhood community center. There will be plenty of opportunities to volunteer right there with local kids in the neighborhood. You’ll get to know some of the neighborhood children as well as the parents and possibly build relationships.
5. Every little bit helps. Go through your closets and get rid of clothes you are no longer wearing. Better yet, go through your entire house and donate your items to a local church, or neighborhood clothes shelf.
