My husband and I recently celebrated our 25th wedding anniversary and wanted to do something special to mark the special occasion.
A friend who had also just celebrated her 25th wedding anniversary mentioned that her and her husband were going on twenty five dates preceding their anniversary. I love the idea and thought I could put a spin on it by going on twenty five dates as we celebrate the 25th year. So from now until our next anniversary, my goal is to do 25 things together that will include date nights, movie nights, fun activities, and whatever floats our boat. I was invited to a preview tasting at the Marquette Lounge and I knew this would be on our 25 date night list.
We headed downtown Minneapolis to the Marquette Hotel for an evening together. The beautiful glass windows that line the restaurant give a feel that you are dining right off of the busy downtown street but the luxurious dining atmosphere will let you know you're in a classy restaurant.
New Executive Chef Peter Botcher is bringing new flavors to the downtown Minneapolis restaurant.
From breakfast and lunch to power hour which is the traditional happy hour, and dinner. Some of the menu items include a prime steak burger and a variety of Artisan pizzas. There's also creative cocktails and an extensive wine list for those that are interested.
For starters, we ordered the shareable Korean chili-honey glazed fried chicken wings topped with sesame seeds and green onion. I also tried the fennel and orange marinated olives.
Then, I dined on the Lowery Hills Meats Bratwurst which is paired with bacon braised sauerkraut and spicy mustard on a pretzel bun. Since I absolutely love anything with truffle I had the white truffle fries on the side. This was soo filling!
Of course, my husband ordered the Prime Flat Iron Steak with butter with tarragon aïoli and frites. This was one of the most flavorful steaks I had every tasted.
We ended our meal by sharing a piece of Lemon Layer Shortcake with raspberry sauce. A perfectly light and sweet way to top off the night.
The Marquette Lounge is a must try for you and your boo or with your girls. This will be on our list to try again.
I am loving your idea of 25 dates to celebrate 25 years! All of this food looks mighty tasty. I needed to see this post today as a reminder to schedule more date nights. It's so hard to do when your husband works full time, is in grad school, plus is caregiver to his mother. I will find a way!
