Minneapolis Blogger Union Event Recap

A few weeks ago, I attended my very first Minneapolis Blogger Union Meetup. July's meet up was held at Pryes Brewing Company off of West River Road in North Minneapolis.

The Blogger Union is a community of bloggers that is dedicated to growing and thriving together through collaboration. They have chapters in DC, Houston, Fort Lauderdale, South Florida and even across the seas in Rome and Madrid.

This month fashion blogger Lauren of Lo Meyer gave a presentation style, posing and how to work your best angles. Afterward, we broke out into photography sessions where we could practice what we learned. Style Trolley a mobile boutique, borrowed cute outfits for us to change into if we wanted.

Minneapolis Blogger Union: Street Fashion & Photography Workshop Tips

Here's a quick look at some of the photography tips we learned.

1. Pose in a way that makes the clothes look good. If you're working with the brand it's important to make the clothes look good on you so that people want to buy them.

2. Be sure to smile at the camera. Say cheese!

3. Look happy in your outfits. You look approachable when you do this and you will increase your followers as a result.

4. Make sure to check your accessories. I don't know how many times I've taken pictures that were otherwise good only to see that my earring wasn't faced the right way or my necklace was off-center.

5. Take multiple photos at different angles so you have lots of content to pull from when you don't know what to post.

*Bonus tip:

Think ahead and plan your outfits based on this season coming. So think 3 to 4 weeks out which means you should already be taking pictures of your fall outfits now.

  4. I live in NYC so I get invited quite a few events which gives me an opportunity to meet new and familiar bloggers alike. That said, I love that you get together as a group. Its fun to run into bloggers at events but its very short conversations we seem to have.

  5. The closest Blogger Union chapter would be DC and that’s 3 hours away. I am a part of the Virginia Bloggers group and though i haven’t been to an event in a while I can’t wait to attend any upcoming that are close to me.

  11. This event looks fun! I wonder if Atlanta has something similar? Only meet-ups I'm apart of here is my Atlanta Automotive Media group, and travel group (I haven't even attended any of the travel meet-ups though).
