Technically, in October I will have been blogging for 10 years. I had two blogs before this one. But this is the longest running blog and my most successful one.
Lately, I've had a lot of people ask me for blogging advice and I thought what better way to celebrate my 6th blogiversary than with a few tips that I've learned along the way.
What I Learned After 6 Years of Blogging
Blogging is hard work
It takes a lot of creativity to come up with one blog post. There's the time you need to brainstorm ideas and many hours needed for photography and editing. Not to mention the time needed to SEO your blog posts. And that's not even considering all the time you need to promote your blog post. People think blogging really easy but it's not for the faint at heart.
You get what you put in
If you want to have a successful blog you will have to put the work in. That means doing all of the above the things I mentioned and then some. You'll need to attend conferences, do plenty of blog research so that you stay relevant and on top of your craft.
However, if you blog only here and there and aren't willing to give it your all your blog may become stagnant. Build it and they will come doesn't always work. Especially with blogging.
You don't have to do what everyone tells you to do
Hey if you want if you're not concerned about having a huge blog with thousands of followers and you just want to blog for your friends and family, by all means do so. You don't have to do with what every blogging website or book tells you to. My best advice is to do you boo!
Have fun with it
I have had some pretty great opportunities blogging. I've traveled, been featured as a guest speaker panel list, and had the pleasure of being in a fall fashion campaign. I've made lots of friends folks that have become good friends today. I have enjoyed my journey I have enjoyed my blog journey so far. I'm not sure how long it will last but I'm here for until the end.
Do what makes you happy
The most important advice I can give is to do what makes you happy. Blogging should be enjoyable. If you're writing about something that you could care less about it won't last. Make sure that your blog is a reflection of you and the things you love. Even I have to constantly keep this in mind every day.
Thanks in advance!
I'm proud of you girl!!! Happy Blogiversary!!

ReplyDeleteGirl! So I've been blogging on and off for the last few years, but this is the FIRST month I've been REALLY consistent like 2x a week every week on purpose, great content. And OMG! LOL It literally takes a WHOLE day to write up one post, and that's after I've spent hours trying to take photos. LOL But I've seen great results in this first month and I told myself I would stick to it, so let's see where I am after the first quarter! Congrats on your blogiversary!
