Our weather has been around 85° on average. We've had some 90's too. It's been hot and muggy but not too bad.
I have to be honest with you though. Summer is my least favorite season. Well, besides winter of course. I don't do heat and humidity. I'm usually inside the house on 95° + days.
But this summer is different. I have found myself wanting to go outside. Whether it's a quick jaunt around the lake or walking down the promenade, I have been enjoying the fun and freedom of summertime.
So what's changed? I think I've just been embracing summer more and taking advantage of all the fun things that the season brings. Lord knows in a few months, the hawk will be back!
I decided to put together a list of ideas that will help you have an awesome summer too.
5 Way to Make This the Best Summer Ever
1. Take the family to an amusement park. It's fun to watch the kids go on rides and be a kid again. There's plenty of smiles and laughter to be had.
2. Head to the lake or beach. Living in the Land of 10,000 lakes means I can drive 5 to 10 minutes and arrive at a big, beautiful lake. There's just something about relaxing by water. It's so calming.
3. Be a tourist in your own town. Visit somewhere new. Or make something old, new again. There are places in my hometown that I haven't been to since I was a kid. It'll be fun to introduce my family to those places.
4. Take advantage of summer activities. When is Summer there's so much to do you can head to festivals and carnivals
5. Get the whole family moving. Plan a summer bike ride with the kids. Or, head to the park for rollerblading or walking. I just recently bought a badminton set and I plan to play a few rounds with my son. That was my favorite outdoor game back in the day. Can't wait to show him my skills.
How are you enjoying your summer so far?
I love the amusement park. I do like walking in the summer time, but only in the evenings. It's just way too hot now. I do my stuff in the morning and stay in :-). I wish l had a pool right now though :-).
ReplyDeleteI'm so jealous that you live so close to so many lakes. I feel so landlocked here in Atlanta. We are 20 min away from the nearest stream. LOL! I feel refreshed just reading this!
ReplyDeleteThese are great ideas. The family and I have done several of these things already. I like the idea of a family bike ride. We need to do that.
ReplyDeleteBeing a tourist in your own town is actually fun and you can learn some things. We've lived in NYC for over 30 years and did a big bus tour. We learned things about NYC that we didn't know previously.
ReplyDeleteThe summer is half way over and I haven't done much. I live in California and there are so many places that I have yet to go. I think I'm going to be a tourist in my own city.
ReplyDeleteI love these ideas. I often get caught up on not haveing enough money to afford a big trip but small outings in our city is a great idea.
ReplyDeleteWe've been to the beach and are headed to the amusement park next week. Summer is basically over here and I'm so sad!
