My love affair with lipstick began when I was a young teenager in the 80's. My mom wouldn't let me wear it until about the 8th grade. And when she did, it was on. Literally. I loved it!
Do you remember Wet & Wild 509 & 521? Yeah, those were my favorites. A deep red and iridescent fuschia. To this very day, I still wear some version of those colors. No more Wet & Wild though. I've since upped my game.

Nowadays, you can find lipsticks in so many different hues. No more basic red or pink. They even have blue and black which I don't think I'll ever wear. Yesterday, I saw a girl with dark green lipstick at Target. It looked good on her, but I won't be going that far.
But if it's bold and bright, I'll rock it!

I remember Wet n' wild! It is so different now - it is good stuff! Back then it was impossible to get on, and next to impossible to remove. I think I seriously started wearing it in college when the black lip line was in. Oh the horror!

ReplyDeleteI wear lipstick sometimes. Since my lips are naturally colored I usually don't wear it. I started wearing lipstick in my teens too.

ReplyDeleteLast year was the first time I'd ever heard of it. When I started out wearing lipstick I work Revlon's Toast of New York. It was a brownish color and one my older sister wore.

I used to sneak and wear my moms lipstick back in the day. But now I feel so out of place and weird when i wear lipstick. I am more of a neutral gloss kind of girl but I have been trying to dabble in lipstick lately.
ReplyDeleteoh my goodness, who doesn't love Wet n Wild - that was the first lipstick I could afford 2/$1 back in the day. Now I only use Avon and love all the varieties and colors they are now selling.
ReplyDeleteI rarely wear lipstick because my lips turn over so often. I like matte glosses more, but there are some great butter lipsticks out now.
ReplyDeleteI'm a makeup artist, if anything I wear lipstick daily even if I don't have a full face of makeup. I love a red lip, or even a bright pink, orange or purple.
ReplyDeleteMy mother let me start wearing makeup when I was 14, but I NEVER really wore it! In my 20s I wore it more, but now I've just stopped. But I'm looking to up my make up game this year!
ReplyDeleteI wear lipstick almost everyday as well! I started junior year of high school and have been in love ever since. I love simple outfits with a pop of color on my lips - often red :)
ReplyDeleteI don't wear lipstick everyday, but I do love it. I think I started wearing it a little later in high school because my mother was opposed to makeup and I definitely wore in through high school and beyond. The main reason I don't wear it frequently is because I hate the smudges on everything I eat and drink. I know on thing though: Lipstick always looks great on you! :-)
ReplyDeleteNo lipstick for me, but Burt's Bee's original peppermint chapstick is my must-apply lip product. I love how it makes my lips feel soft and tingly!
