Do you remember that old commercial where the dad is skipping through the store isles buying back to school supplies to the sound of "It's the most wonderful time of the year"? Too funny!
Yes, the new school year is almost here and it's time to start shopping. I'm going to share a few tips on how to save on all of your back to school needs, because, that's what I do for my peeps!
*Shop the store ads. When you see sales items for 1 cent, $1, stock on them. Walgreens is good for these types of sales. So is Target. Also, Office Max used to have backpacks for free through a rebate. I'm not sure if they are offering it this year, so be sure to check the store.
*Clip and print coupons! You can usually find coupons for folders, pens, etc. as well as coupons on underwear and socks.
*Head to Target. Target has coupons online + the My Cartwheel app for smartphones. You can combine both coupons along with your manufactures coupon for huge savings. And to make the deal even sweeter, sometimes the items can be on sale or buy 3, get a $5 gift card!
*Make a B-line for the clearance rack. I have gone to a store with to buy kids jeans on sale. When I check the clearance rack, jeans are on clearance for much cheaper. Hey, jeans are jeans!
*Attend back to school functions. They often have free supplies like folders, pens, and such.
*Don't be afraid to ask for help. Many organizations have supplies for families. Call your local food shelf, church, or community center to see what they offer.
