When The Unexpected Happens...

Things are pretty much back to normal after what seemed to be a very stressful family emergency with my daughter.

My son and I had gone to his school's last basketball game of the season.  He doesn't play yet (next year), but we thought we'd go and show our support.  We arrived home and settled in for bed like any  other night.

But a little after midnight, my daughter came into my room saying that she thought she need to go to the hospital.  She had pain in her side and stomach area and she could barely walk.  Now, this was unlike my daughter who really doesn't have any health concerns, unlike my boys who have asthma and allergies.  My husband and I jumped out of bed to find my daughter laying on the floor from the pain.

It was all a bit scary and I thought I would have to call an ambulance, but we rushed her to the nearby ER Dept.  After many tests and a CAT scan, it would be determined that she would have to get surgery first thing in the morning, which technically was just a few hours- to stop internal bleeding.

Everything went well, thanks to God and all the prayers of my friends and family, she is now back to work.  Which I don't mind, since I've been waiting on her hand and foot for the past 2 weeks.  But hey, I'm a mom.  That's what we do!

So my question is this.   Do you ever have those days (of course you do) where things are going normally and something out of the blue happens that throws you, your family, your mind for a loop?  What do you do when that happens?
