It's late August and Minnesotans know exactly what that means. It's MN State Fair time! My family is excited about our favorite part of summer. I can already smell the cheese curds, french fries and Sweet Martha cookies now!
So when a reader asked just how I plan to save money at the great Minnesota Get-together, I thought I'd put together a quick list. It's pretty simple.
1. First things first. Go to Cub Foods and pick up your discounted tickets ahead of time. You can purchase a Blue Ribbon Bargain Book and ride tickets on sale too. You have until Wednesday to get these so hurry. You also won't have to wait in line and we all know that time is money!
2. Plan to go to the fair on a discounted day like Thrifty Thursday or Seniors, and Kids days. On these days, you find discounts on Midway and Kidway rides and concessions.
3. Try to go early in the day. It's easier to get around and the lines aren't as long.
4. Spend the whole day there, but pace yourself. That way you'll see and eat everything you want without having to re-pay all of the admission and parking fees.
5. Lastly, look for all the freebies, and yes there are freebies at the fair. My favorite? The Culligan Water booth. Drink all the water you want. You can save a lot of money on keeping hydrated, which is extremely important while walking around this massive event. Also check out the free stages for free concerts.
How do you plan to save at the Fair?
