My visit to the General Mills Eat & Greet Event

This past week has been a whirl wind for me. Luckily, I was able to take a break from all of the tornado drama to attend a very special invitation only event sponsored by General Mills. I was honored to be asked to attend this V.I.P. event and couldn't wait for the change of scenery.
Wednesday evening, 50 bloggers including myself, toured the Mills City Museum. Though I had been there before with my kids, it was still a lot of fun. I especially enjoyed the 20 minute movie on the history of Minneapolis. I learned a great deal about this wonderful city I call home.
At dinner, we played a hilarious game of "Getting to know you", where I of all people, started first. I was asked a bit of cereal trivia, which I should have known the answer to, but failed miserably. Thanks to help of the great staff at General Mills, I won a big red Betty Crocker spoon! After a entertaining evening, I headed home to prepare for the day ahead.

We arrived to the General Mills Headquarters in Golden Valley the next day, bright and early. Breakfast was ready and I thought I would be munching on a sweet bowl of cereal, but that would come later. After mingling with other bloggers, we were greeted by the welcome committee at GM, then set out on our tour of the campus. I must say, it was a beautiful building, reminiscent of the old Pillsbury Center in downtown Minneapolis. Inside you could find a Caribou Coffee, D'amico & Sons and even an Aveda Salon! I was very impressed. I even thought to myself "Hmm...maybe I should grab a application!".

Then it was off to the famous Betty Crocker kitchens, where all the magic begins. We tried many products that General Mills is known for such as cereals like Chex and Fiber One, as wells as others like Muir Glen tomatoes. Everything was delicious and I cant wait to bring these treats home to my family. I was also thrilled to see and sample the new Yoplait Parfaits! Everyone who knows me knows that I love dessert so the thought of sampling a healthy alternative was exciting for me.

Next stop on the tour was the General Mills Photo Studios, where they take their own product pictures. It was very interesting to see and learn just how they take such brilliant photos of their scrumptious recipes. I also learned a thing or two about taking better pics of my cupcake soaps!

The tour ended in the General Mills Store where I found the cutest flower shaped measuring cups and spoons. I wish I had picked up a Betty Crocker Red T-Shirt though that said, "Who Do I Look Like, Betty Crocker?" It would have went well with my red spoon!

I met some really great bloggers there as well. Many were glad to share tips on making your blog grow and how to be successful.

It was such a pleasure to be a guest at the General Mills Eat and Greet and I'm sure that everyone would agree that we were treated like royalty. Most importantly, I enjoyed meeting all the wonderful people that make General Mills such a great brand and company!
