Here's a quick look at six of the latest foods you find this year.
New Minnesota State Fair Foods 2016
Similar to last year's Totchos, Tater Tot Nachos from the Tot Boss has ground beef and fresh fixin's. I also had the Loaded Tots which was knock your socks off good.
The Rustic Beef Pastry from French Meadow Bakery & Cafe had an interesting taste full of many flavors, but I'm not a fan of goat cheese.
The Minnesota Corn Dog from the Gass Station Grille was a custom ground sausage with blueberries, apples, wild rice. It was different. Definitely not your mama's corn dog. And please, do not dip this in ketchup. Maple syrup would be more like it.
Cheesy French Onion Monkey Bread, say what? I actually though this was pretty good. But then again, I love to order French Onion soup so I'm a fan.
The Minnesnowii Shaved Ice (featured in the picture above) was decent. I tried the Root Beer Float shaved ice but it melted too fast to get a good picture.
Lastly, I tried the Grilled Cheese Bites from O'Gara's at the Fair. I was most surprised by this one. The Bloody Mary sauce really made this tasty.
Honestly, there wasn't anything that really knocked my socks off. Last year there were so many tasty new foods to try. I still remember the Salted Puff Malt. I hope they have it again this year.
While it's always fun to try the new food offerings at the Minnesota State Fair, I always end up sticking with my tried and true favorites like Cheese Curds, French Fries and Sweet Martha's cookies. Mm-mm!
What will you be trying at the Minnesota State Fair?

ReplyDeleteAs much as I would love to try all of those foods, the thought of eating them scares me. I can't imagine how many calories each of those things are and I don't want to know. Ok, I kind of do. But maybe I could go off my diet just once and try those grilled cheese bites. They look pretty amazing!
ReplyDeleteThe onion monkey bread sounds delicious. The beef pastry also sounds yummy.
ReplyDeleteYum, Fair Foods! I can't wait until the fair comes to town in September here. #ProductReviewParty
